GPT Singapore (Bukit Timah)

Hey fellow cowies!
I went for the GPT SG and make it to top 8. As there are approx 40 players, the players that got into the finals will have 3round byes.
Sadly, I lost in the quarter finals when I'm so close to 3 rounds bye.

I brought RUG deck to play and I'll explain some of the matchups I met below:


Match 1: Vamps
---------------------------------
I have a smooth sail ahead with turn 2 cobra. Turn 3 explore and found 1 fetchland, with 1 fetchland and 1 inferno titans in my hand. Enough say.

Game 2:
In: 4x pyroclasm
Out: 3x mana leak, 1x Avenger of Zendikar
I was Inquisited with 2 cobra 1pyroclasm and lands on my hand. Surprisely my opp choose cobra, thinking cobra is his nightmare (mayb becos of game1). Throughout the game he took quite alot from his tutelage. With his life at 6, I have 2 bolts in my hand and knowing inferno was my next card through halimar depths.

Match 2: Elves

Won with precursor golem and jace tms, with the turn bolting off the Elvish Druid and bouncing off the lianowa elf.

Game2:
In:4x pyroclasm, 4x flashfreeze
Out: 4x mana leak, 1x Avenger of Zendikar, 3x Lightning Bolt
Won with pyroclasm clearing the small elves, leaving the vengevine behind.
I made a mistake in this. I should have lay the land from the deck via the oracle of mul daya and cast inferno titans with mana floating via cobra, before pyroclasm. Now, i'm short of 1 mana and titan was cast a turn later.

Match 3: Valukut
------------------------------
Opp stuck on 2 lands on turn 3. My jace fateseal him, leaving his overgrown battlement on top of his deck. He cast on next turn and pass. I bounce the wall and drop a Inferno with help from explore, fetchlands and of cos cobra. Opp concede upon his draw.

Game 2:
In: 4x Flashfreeze, 3x Obstinate Baloth
Out: 4x Mana Leak, 1x Avenger of Zendikar, 2x Lightning Bolt.
Lost to the ramp by his cobra and his inferno came to play before mine. Another primeval titan was cast on the next turn and I scooped.

Game 3:
In: 2x Tumble Magnet
Out: 1x Lightning Bolt, 1x Precursor Golem
My opp made mistake for not putting counter on his khlani expedition when landfall triggers. Mistakes were made twice by him and I just cant let him redo. Forcing through with raging ravine and baloth. The determined outcome was when I flashfreeze his Inferno and summoning trap. He tried to cast primeval titan but I held a flashfreeze in hand. I won the game with my opp pissed.

Match 4: Valukut

This game was all about topdecking. I topdecked but my opp did better and I was screwed with Inferno and Primeval titans on board, and an angry Valukut waiting to spit at me.

Game 2:
In: 4x Flashfreeze, 3x Obstinate Baloth
Out: 4x Mana Leak, 1x Avenger of Zendikar, 3x Lightning Bolt, 1x Garruk Wildspeaker
This game was quite close.I had the tumble magnet to stop a primeval titan, but a 2nd one came in and I had trouble. Brainstorm for solution but I was stuck with lacking of 1 more red mana to resolve both Inferno and Lighting Bolt on the Primeval Titans.

Match 5: Boros
--------------------------
A turn 4 titan with cobra killed off the board of steppex lynx and leaving everything open. He didnt manage to find a solution and I manage to burn him off.

Game 2:
In: 4x pyroclasm, 2x magnet, 3x Obstinate Baloth
Out: 4x Bolt, 1x AOZ, 2x Precursor, 1x Garruk
Was in a board position of either cast jace and bounce his creature, or tap out for inferno to kill off the board but vunerable to a mark of mutiny. I was at 6 life. My choices are limited and risk had to be taken. Inferno was cast and my opp show me his mark. Damn.

Game 3:
In: 1x Deprive
Out: 1x Inferno
This game was a struggle when I did a grave mistake on first turn; Misty raninforest was sac to find island instead of forest, which then i realise i do not have forest in my hand. Over confident nearly cost me the game. My opp was hesitating to burn me or my creatures. Him stucking 3 lands, I resolve a Titan with a tumble magnet in play in case of any crazy mark from him. He did not pull off his firewalker and the game was mine.

It was bad. My turn 2 cobra died to the contagious clasp.Drawing blanks and opp has cast his phyrexian crusader. I was poison to death with the proliferate from the contagious clasp.

Game 2:
In: 2x Tumble Magnet, 3x Obstinate Baloth
Out: 1x AOZ, 2x Lightning Bolt, 1x Precursor Golem, 1x Inferno Titans

My sideboard was wrong I believe. Shld have kept the precursor Golem and take out 1x inferno titan instead. Again I keep drawing blanks and land flooded. No answer towards the Phyrexian crusader and I was killed off with addition of Inkmount Nexussss.

Mad Cow Inc Xmas Party 2010!

Hi all my dear cowies! :)




Thank you for all your very enthusiastic participation at the annual Mad Cow Xmas Party! This time round the chosen location of Hard Rock Hotel, Resort World Sentosa was excellent! With a nice deluxe double room, a great view of the pool and of course many hours of magic! :)





Let's get together even more and for more hours of fun and even competitive magic! FYI: There will be GP Singapore and GP Shanghai in 2011! Lets gear up and get there! :)

Madness Mad Cow Christmas Celebration!

Hi cowies!
Here is a rough breakdown of our events for 21 and 22!
2pm - check into hotel
2pm to 6pm - free and easy (Alvin says there's a pool)
6pm - dinner at harborfront hawker centre
8pm - treasure hunting at sentosa/omg draft/edh 2h
11pm - Ktv at vivocity cum prize presentation!
After which is free and easy!

22nd
10am - the cows are invading universal studios Singapore!
6.15pm - dinner
9pm - going back to our barnyards...

Things to note:
Treasure hunting in sentosa- you will be hunting in pairs, rules will be made known on actual day itself

Omg draft- everyone will be given 1 zendrikar, 1 m10, 1 m11, 1 roe, 1 som and 1 special booster!(tentatively) We will then either draft or have a seal deck!

Special booster: everyone must create a booster consisting of
1 rare (any rares! Time to get rid of your crap rare)
3 uncommon (any!)
11 common (any!)
These cards can be from ANY set! It's your creativity!

Edh 2headed - we will be paired randomly. Edh format is as usual with exception of
1) you are allowed to use up to 20 proxies! This is to encourage everyone to play!
2) limitations and ban list as followed by format
3) point play off
4) 2headed rules applies

Lucky draw results will be announced on first night!
Best cowie and most consistent cowie will be announced on first night!
There will be prizes to be won courtesy from team fund and your "entry fee"

Things to bring (I was thinking it was necessary since ppl asked me)
1) clothings (black team tee or black tee)
2) swimming gear
3) camera
4) snacks, beer, tea, alcohol

And let's enjoy ourselves!

Hail to all Mad Cows! The heartiest greetings from Gothenburg! Tomorrow will be the Grand Prix! We Are all speculating that it will be a 1.5k GP. My god... Hope I do better than X-3 this time round.

Anyway some updates, just came back from the tournement ground. Went for 2 Grinders... And... I am out on the first match... That was quite bad... Again I did not get my 3round byes. Oh well. Haha!

P.s. Sweden is damm expansive... Want to die already...

Details for our First EDH Tourney are as follows

It will be 2Headed Giant format, where the partner WILL BE CHOSEN RANDOMLY! As this is just a casual format, please keep your whinings and complains to someone WHO CARES....
